We’re LibreTactile!
We unite researchers, developers, users, and enthusiasts to equitably create and share innovative solutions that empower more natural, meaningful ways to interact with technology—and each other.
Libretactile’s origins

Led by the blind, built for all
LibreTactile was born from a vision: to co-create accessible tactile technologies with the communities who rely on them most.
During Juan’s PhD research, we didn’t just consult people with blindness—we centered them as expert leaders in tactile design and assistive tech. Together, we confronted systemic gaps in human-computer interaction: tactile tools were often under-researched, poorly tested, and prone to rapid obsolescence. By embracing open-source, we committed to equitable innovation that evolves with its users.
Fast forward to today
Today, LibreTactile brings together users, academia, nonprofits, and community organizations to co-create tactile solutions for assistive technology, gaming, XR, and beyond.
By fostering open collaboration, we ensure technology becomes a force for inclusion and participation—not just innovation.
